One Family At A Time

The Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re‐Housing Program (HPRP) is a new HUD program that was created through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act). The purpose of HPRP is to provide homelessness prevention assistance to households who would otherwise become homeless—many due to the economic crisis—and to provide assistance to rapidly re‐house persons who are currently homeless. HPRP will provide temporary financial assistance and housing relocation and stabilization services to individuals and families who are homeless or would be homeless but for this assistance.

Wake County and The City of Raleigh selected Triangle Family Services and The Women’s Center to administer the program locally. These two well-respected agencies will operate HPRP for up to three (3) years. Funding for HPRP can be used for: Financial assistance (including rent payments), housing relocation and stabilization services. Program support must be directed to households with incomes that are at or below 50% of the area median family income, and are in danger of losing their housing or have already lost their housing. This funding cannot assist households with mortgage costs.
